Dosti

What is Dosti?

Dosti is a network of networks including hundreds of community groups and voluntary organisations in Dudley Borough.

Dosti is recognised by the Council and other local agencies as a lead network that seeks to voice the diverse views of the community and voluntary sector.

Dosti is an Asian word meaning 'friendship' and is the one of a number of organisations around the country called Community Empowerment Networks that is funded by central government.

Dudley Council for Voluntary Organisation is Dosti’s responsible body which means that they hold and administer Dosti's funds, and employ Dosti staff.

What Dosti do

Dosti's aim is to support people to get the skills and power to make a difference to the quality of life of those that live and work in Dudley Borough.  Dosti seeks to do this by:

  • developing and engaging groups and networks, including those that would not normally be engaged;

  • building the capacity of community and voluntary sector networks to influence strategic decision making; and

  • making effective use of people, resources and funding.

Dosti does this through it's member networks, with the support of an elected executive and 2 members of staff. Dosti's Action Plan focuses on activities which promote connections between people, development of people, influence and challenge.
