Frontline staff and others who have direct contact with older people have thousands of conversations every day. Through these daily interactions, there is the power to change people’s lives.
If you are a frontline worker, working with older people in Dudley borough, you are invited to attend a free 2½ hour training session which will help you to empower older residents to make positive changes to their health and wellbeing.
The training will give you the skills in areas such as:
– Confidence in starting a conversation about health and wellbeing
– Essential information on health and wellbeing
– Recognise if someone is lonely and help them to build social connections
– Strength and balance exercises for older people
– Eating well and hydration in older adults
– Ways to improve cold and damp homes and promote seasonal wellbeing
– Tools and techniques to self-manage a long term health condition
– Lifestyle changes to prevent dementia, early diagnosis and support
– Prevent infectious diseases and immunisation to protect health
– Advocate for healthy ageing and signpost to local information, activities and services
You will be given access to an online resource pack. Follow up sessions will help you put your learning into practice. Dudley MBC encourage you to share your experiences, case studies and stories on supporting someone to make changes to their health and wellbeing.
