Camphill Village Trust joined hundreds of other schemes up and down the country to celebrate National Shared Lives Week from June 24th-28th. The week was a time for them to highlight and promote the wonderful Shared Lives model, and most importantly, to say thank you to their incredible Shared Lives Carers. These dedicated individuals open their homes and hearts to support people, helping them live as part of a family.

This year, they had even more reason to celebrate. Following their successful award of the Dudley Shared Lives contract, they used this special week to relaunch Camphill Village Trust Shared Lives across Dudley and the wider Black Country.

Their relaunch event brought together a diverse group of local organisations and partners to showcase their services. They were joined by Healthwatch Dudley, Act on Energy, Shaw Trust, Beacon Centre for the Blind, Discover U, Citizens Advice, Live Well Feel Safe, Ridge Hill Learning Disability nurses, and their very own Co-production team.

The event saw an enthusiastic turnout of over 50 people, including Shared Lives Carers, the people they support, families seeking support, Social Work professionals, Commissioners, and local dignitaries like the Deputy Mayor Councillor Pete Lee.

Trust Director Fiona I’Anson and Trustee Ann Kenney gave heartfelt speeches, expressing gratitude to their staff, Carers, and the people they support. The Dudley Canal Trust was the perfect venue, chosen for its strong ties to the Dudley area and its excellent transport links for attendees from across the Black Country.

The event was a resounding success, highlighting the strength of their relationships with Shared Lives Carers and the people they support, the positive team culture within their Trust, and the valuable partnerships they have formed with local organisations.

They are always looking at ways they can grow and strengthen their Shared Lives program in Dudley and beyond. If you know of anyone that may be interested in becoming a Shared Lives Carer, or would benefit from accessing support from Shared Lives, please get in touch with one of the team to find out more.
