Black Country Multicultural Day, held in partnership with Halesowen BID and under the umbrella of the Black Country Festival and the National Lottery Community Fund, The Arts Council England, showcases the vibrant cultural diversity of the Black Country.
Join them on Saturday 20th July, to witness a celebration of music, dance, and unity. Performances will feature artists from in and around the Black Country, including The Gentlemen Songsters, Halesowen & Dudley Yemeni Group, Poppies Polish Duo, Hindu Community Forum, The Singing Barmaid Kerrie Stevens, CreArt Community Group, and our headline performance by Black Country All Ska’s.
Additionally, there will be a chance for the public to learn Bhangra dancing in the Cornbow Shopping Centre from 12:30p.m. with the four time award-winning Jodi Dancers, along with a special guest performance. Also with the Hindu Community Group showing a variety of performances of Gujarati Dance.
The event will also include face painting, stilt walkers, Batman, arts and crafts for children by Wild Earth Movement, The Truck Art Bus. The Truck Art Bus stands as a testament to cultural diversity and artistic expression, echoing the spirit of unity and inclusion that events like the Multicultural Day strive to foster.
There will also be showing in one of the shops in the Cornbow Shopping Centre the viewing of the 1947 Partition of India and the creation of Pakistan, also the Premier of Black Country Voices. A story of two Punjabi families who were invited to come and work in the factories and foundries to help kick start the British Industrial Revolution.
This free, family-friendly event will take place from 11a.m. to 6p.m. in Somers Square, Hagley Street, Halesowen. There is so much going on for the family including the Saturday Market. This will be a fun packed day for everyone.
