Dudley High Street becomes a different sort of space when we use it to make, share, learn, create, dance, design and dream together. When we slow down to observe and explore it. It becomes a kinder, more creative place.

Through CoLab Dudley, Dudley CVS is supporting a collective of 50 people who live, work, play and learn in Dudley who invite exactly these sorts of activities. They have involved hundreds of local people in researching and celebrating Dudley’s past, and exploring the High Street in the present in a variety of imaginative and unexpected ways. They also help us to imagine many possible good futures through designs and experiments. We call these people Time Rebels.

Whether you live in or around Dudley town centre, work in the town, grew up nearby, or would simply like to get involved in hopeful hands-on doing, Dudley’s Time Rebels would love to meet you. They are hosting all kinds of activities this spring. You can see the growing Spring Programme at doingindudley.net

Doing in Dudley activities are open to all, everyone is welcome. (Children must bring a grown up.) They are free to take part. They take place at CoLab Dudley, 201a High Street, Dudley, DY1 1QQ (opposite Nationwide).

This Spring on Dudley High Street: exhibitions, making and creating lunchtime sessions, creative writing, generating Stories of Place, and Radio Public!

Some of Dudley’s Time Rebels are Masters of Architecture students at Birmingham City University. In collaboration with CoLab Dudley they have been working on future visions for Dudley High Street. Join us on Monday 4 April to meet the students and see their designs.

On the following dates some of Dudley’s Time Rebels will be hosting friendly, informal making and creating lunchtime sessions: Thursday 7 April | Thursday 21 April | Thursday 5 May | Thursday 19 May | Thursday 16 June | Thursday 30 June

Doors open at 12.00pm. You can bring your own lunch. The session starts at 12.30pm, and runs to 1.30pm. You can stay to hang your work in an open exhibition – see below.

Open Project Night is like a mini-festival of doing in one evening, with multiple activities taking place in the same place at the same time. It is an open invitation to anyone interested to drop-in to join activities or simply come along to find out more about what Dudley’s Time Rebels are up to. It takes place at CoLab Dudley on the second and fourth Wednesday of each months, from 5pm – 8pm. Open Project Night activities this spring include Stories of Place creative explorations and Connect Dudley creative writing sessions.

Later in the spring a group of local artists coming together through a Time Rebel project called Radio Public will be hosting open creative workshops on Tuesday evenings, details will be added to the Doing in Dudley site here where you can already see the scheduled dates. And do save the date for the Radio Public Festival on Dudley High Street, which will take place on  Saturday 9 July, 10am -6pm

See more about Radio Public at www.workshop24.co.uk/radio-public
