The Black Country Allied Health Professionals (AHP) and Nursing Faculty are currently undertaking an exciting piece of work to expand six-week AHP and nursing student placements in new and non-traditional areas, linking voluntary and private organisations with local university partners.
There has been great success in matching students looking to expand their knowledge of health and care within a voluntary setting and the experience so far has been rewarding on all sides.
Not only could your organisation receive payment to be a host organisation, you could also benefit by adding a member to your team, getting a fresh pair of eyes to support your group or undertake research, as well as equipping medical students with knowledge about what the community sector does best: delivering health and care services outside the medical profession.
Arm’s length supervision and support will be available from faculties – partners now range from Wolverhampton, to Birmingham and Worcester Universities (with their forthcoming Dudley campus).
Could you support a student in their development, learning new skills in diverse areas to complement their training at university? If you would like further details on how to be involved, please contact sarah.taylor@wvca.or.uk‘
