You are warmly invited to Town Anywhere, an all day immersive online experience which you join from your home. It’s free to join in.

What to expect

A day that will take you on an adventure into the future, in a way that is playful, creative, connecting and fun, but will also help you think about the practical steps we need to take to make that future possible. Join us for a remarkable day of time travel, imagining, storytelling and connection.

Who can take part

This adventure is open to anyone who lives, works or gets involved in things in Dudley borough or the city of Wolverhampton and is able to join an online event run using Zoom.

You might be someone who volunteers in a community group or does things in the place you live. You might work for the council, or perhaps you’re an artist. You might be a curious family looking for something interesting to take part in. You might be a student, a school pupil, or a grandparent.

This event is FREE to take part in, you can apply for places at

Why get involved?

Imagine if you could take part in an event where you were able to step into a future where everyone cares for each other, for the earth and the next generations?

We will dream that future alive, inhabit it, and then tell the story of how we did it. How did we learn to work together? What did we learn?

Expect a day that will take you on an adventure into the future, in a way that is playful, creative, connecting and fun, and will also help you think about the practical steps we need to take to make that future possible. If you’re looking for one day in 2021 that will hugely deepen your understanding of what you do or can do in the place you care about, and how you can do it, you just found it.

Why do I need to apply?

This is a special event with high participation. Places are limited and we would like to involve a balance of people from different parts of Dudley borough and Wolverhampton City.

This isn’t a drop in activity. You will need to commit to attending for the whole day, but don’t worry, there will be plenty of breaks and time for lunch. You will also need to organise a space where you can be undisturbed for the day.

If you have questions and would like to talk to someone before you apply, see contact details below.

Preparing for the journey

We’ll be using Zoom, so you’ll need:

  • Good wifi coverage and data allowance
  • A computer or tablet to use Zoom on
  • A mobile phone

When we confirm your place, you will be invited to join a WhatsApp group. In this group you will be able to meet your fellow travellers on this day long adventure to the future and we will send reminders of some things to think about and pack in advance of the day of time travel.

Some of the items you will need include a hat (you’re going on a journey after all), a couple of empty cardboard boxes, string, a couple of sticks or poles, something to make a noise with, your computer and a mobile phone, and a picnic.

Who is behind this?

This event is being organised by the people behind CoLab Dudley and Wolverhampton for Everyone. We are working with artists Ruth Ben-Tovimand Lucy Neale, creators of the Town Anywhere adventure.

Why are we bringing this to Wolverhampton and Dudley?

Over many years Wolverhampton for Everyone and CoLab Dudley have been inviting and supporting local people to experiment with ideas and practical projects that generate connection in the places they live, and contribute to futures we want to live in.

Town Anywhere is a great event for anyone to practice their way into thriving futures, without any requirement to commit to something… though if you do want to start or grow or join something we’ll do our best to support and connect you.

What will happen after the day?

If you find yourself making friends or potential collaborators that you want to connect with after the event, both CoLab Dudley and Wolverhampton for Everyone are happy to support ways to do that and let you know about other projects, experiments and ideas local people are developing in Dudley and across Wolverhampton.

Can I contact to someone to find out more?

Of course. You can email Lorna Prescott from Dudley CVS and CoLab Dudley: lorna@dudleycvs.org.uk, or message or call her on 07501 722 255. We’d love to hear from you.
