Volunteering Futures is a new project that aims to provide more opportunities for people to volunteer in the creative and cultural sector. It’s funded by the Arts Council England and is being led locally by Creative Black Country (CBC).
The project wants to open the doors to people who may face barriers to volunteering and make it possible for them to get involved. As well as young people, they want to attract D/deaf/hearing impaired communities, neurodiverse, isolated, and ethnically diverse communities plus people who have never thought volunteering is for them
CBC is looking for arts and cultural organisations, both large and small, that are interested in getting involved and helping CBC to improve the number and range of volunteering opportunities. Those opportunities can be short or long-term, in-person or digital, what matters is that they provide a positive experience for everyone involved.
Training will be made available for the organisations they work with, helping them acquire the skills and knowledge needed to engage and work with volunteers. They will also help provide training packages for the volunteers themselves, so you can be confident you’ll have a great team of willing hands.
When it comes to finding the volunteers in the first place, CBC can help promote any opportunities you have via CBC social media platforms, Dudley CVS, and the West Midlands Arts Volunteers Facebook page. You’ll need to make sure you provide information so that volunteers can contact you directly.
