This page shares information on who we are and what we do, promotes volunteering opportunities and events, provides a range of volunteering resources and training, and answers some of our most frequently asked questions.
You can also register with Dudley Volunteer Centre here to share your interest in volunteering, or to promote your volunteering opportunities and find support.
So grab a cuppa and take a look at our information, see if any of the volunteering opportunities spark your interest, and find out how you can get involved. You can also contact Grace (Dudley CVS Volunteering Development Officer) or pop by our offices in Brierley Hill for a chat.

What we do
We provide support to individuals and volunteer-involving groups and organisations across the Dudley Borough with volunteering. This may include finding the right volunteering opportunity for an individual, or supporting volunteer-involving organisations with good practice so that volunteers have the best possible experience. We also support businesses looking to connect with their local communities and give back through volunteering or pro-bono support.
Some examples of how we help include:
- Providing 1-2-1 support to find individuals the right volunteering opportunity that works for them. This includes finding suitable volunteering roles that not only give back to the local community, but also increase the individual’s skills and to achieve their personal development goals.
- Promoting a range of diverse volunteering opportunities available across the Dudley Borough, so that there truly is something to suit everyone no matter the time or skills they have to give.
- Supporting volunteer-involving groups and organisations with volunteering good practice and management, such as with volunteer policies, role descriptions and agreements, to promote a positive volunteering experience.
- Supporting voluntary, community, faith, public and private sector organisations with volunteering information and resources
- Providing training for volunteering recruitment, management and support.
- Connecting a range of volunteer-involving groups and organisations together to develop a local volunteering network.
- Supporting businesses looking to support and build relationships with the local community.
“[volunteering] has also helped me get a job as it's a great thing to put in your CV. All the skills you learn from a volunteering role can be a lot more valuable than any other job” – Volunteer in Dudley “I have loved every moment of being there…I have learnt a lot for myself and from the people…we support each other in the shop” – Volunteer in Stourbridge

More information about upcoming events and training can be found on the Volunteer Centre news part of our website, our twitter (@dudleyvols) or you can email grace@dudleycvs.org.uk for further information. If you have any specific requirements that will help to improve your experience in accessing our service, please do get in touch and let us know.
How we link volunteers to groups
Dudley Volunteer Centre refers potential volunteers to groups and organisations seeking voluntary help. We also offer guidance and support in relation to good practice and management of your volunteering opportunities.
We take every care to refer potential volunteers appropriately, but it remains the responsibility of the group and/or organisation to operate good volunteering practices for recruitment, management and insurance of volunteers. The volunteer centre does not take up references on potential volunteers or conduct DBS checks.
The decision to volunteer or to accept a volunteer is yours alone and Dudley Volunteer centre cannot accept responsibility for that decision. It is a group or organisation’s responsibility to maintain appropriate support and supervision of volunteers and take out appropriate insurance cover.
