Dudley CVS’s AGM and Kindness Awards 2022 celebrated those who have shown kindness in their communities over the last year. During the evening we also shared how we’ve been connecting, inspiring, and championing great community work across the Dudley borough. You can find our Dudley CVS Annual Review 2021-2022 here

This year’s event took place at the Brierley Hill Civic on 2 November and the following individuals and groups received awards.

Kindness Awards

Kindness to the Environment Award

The Kindness to the Environment award celebrates people and groups who are passionate about looking after the environment.

Congratulations to highly commended, Friends of Hurst Green Park, and main awardee Aldrich Gonsalves.

Are you ok? Award

This year’s Are you ok? Award recognises people who are supportive listeners and have helped others with their well-being.

Congratulations to award winners Moms Mindful Hub and Chris Wrigley who volunteers at Mary Stevens Hospice.

Being Neighbourly Award

The Being Neighbourly category recognises those who have helped out their neighbours when they needed it. It also recognises individuals or groups who have made a huge impact in their own neighbourhood.

Congratulations to the Friends of Gornal Library.

Stepping up in the Community Award

The Stepping up in the Community Award recognises truly wonderful people around our Dudley borough, who are always there to step up and help.

Congratulations to Black Country Wellbeing Centre, and individual awardee in this catagory Billy Spakemon.

Ray McGuirk Young Believer Award

The Ray McGuirk Young Believer Award is given to young people from across Dudley borough, who demonstrate a commitment to making a difference in their local communities.

Congratulations to 1st Halesowen Scouts and Jasmine Pole.

Vicky Adams Reaching Out Award

The Vicky Adams Reaching Out Award celebrates someone who’s been creative and supported people to feel less isolated, or just someone to talk to when they needed it.

Congratulations to highly commended, Marlene Fortes, and main awardee Ketrina Hill.

Stepping up Award for a Business

The Stepping up Award for a Business recognises a brilliant business that has supported its local community, with staff stepping up to make a difference.

Dudley CVS Spotlight Awards

During the evening we presented Dudley CVS Spotlight Awards to a number of local organisations and people who we have worked closely with us during the year and made a real difference to local people across Dudley borough.

Integrated Plus volunteers

“Over the past year, our Integrated Plus service has been supported by a fantastic team of volunteers. We’re so grateful for their time, skills, and talents, and how they have helped to enhance the Integrated Plus social prescribing service.”

Ruiton Windmill Preservation and Development Trust

“During the year, Ruiton Windmill Preservation and Development Trust community volunteers have been working tirelessly to breathe new life into this quirky and unique building based in Upper Gornal. We’d like to thank them for all their hard work and enthusiasm.”

The Welcome Group

“We couldn’t have had so many meaningful conversations with migrant communities without the support of The Welcome Group over the past year. The group enabled our Healthwatch Dudley team to listen to the health experiences of asylum seekers and refugees. Thanks for your support”

Ian Dale 1st Halesowen Scout group

“We’d like to spotlight Ian Dale 1st Halesowen Scouts who has been instrumental in supporting and developing the Halesowen Cluster Connect place-based working group. He is committed to boosting links between the scout group and the local community.”

Ayesha from Autistic Parents UK

“We’d like to spotlight Ayesha from Autistic Parents UK who was so open and receptive to the group support we gave. Ayesha went on to build a great team, dedicated to making life a little bit easier for autistic parents. We’re really pleased it all started in Dudley borough.”

Black Country Blokes

“The Black Country Blokes is a podcast, radio show, and support group focusing on men’s mental health and wellbeing. We are so fortunate to have this vibrant group in Dudley borough. We’d like to spotlight and thank them for supporting our Kindness Campaign last year.”

Higgs LLP

“Higgs LLP, a local law firm in Brierley Hill, has been supporting our Kindness Campaign and has been inspiring other businesses to think about what they can do to make our communities a better place for all. We’d like to spotlight and thank them for their support over the year.”
