Every day, millions of people across the UK are making a difference by volunteering.
The King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) is a great way of recognising, rewarding and celebrating voluntary groups that are outstanding examples of this work. The prestigious KAVS is equivalent to an MBE and is the highest award given to volunteer-led groups in the UK.

and many more! Now you have the chance to nominate a deserving winner. But be quick, nominations are open until 1st December 2024.
To be eligible for nomination groups must:
- be made up of three or more people
- have operated for at least three years
- have over half of their volunteers residing in the UK
- be led by volunteers, not by paid staff; over half its members should be volunteers
- provide a specific and direct benefit to the local community
Nominations must be made by an independent member of the public with a good knowledge of the group’s work (such as a beneficiary or long-term supporter). Nominators must be able to supply two separate letters of support from two additional people who know the group well. Groups and their volunteers cannot nominate themselves.
