Children’s charity Mentor Link is recruiting Volunteer Mentors from Dudley and the surrounding area to provide one to one support to distressed children and young people dealing with social and emotional issues. The charity has an excellent track record of success in achieving positive outcomes with children and young people. The service is very much in demand. Each day they are receiving enquiries about their service from parents’ and schools with distressed or anxious children. As one year 9 girl wrote to her Mentor, “I am glad I met you as you have allowed me to be who I am today and without you who knows where I would be right now.”No specific qualifications or work experiences are required for this role, but it is essential that you:• Can relate to children and young people• Are punctual, reliable and can commit to a minimum 6-month period.• Have excellent listening and communication skills• Are empathetic, kind and encouraging• Have patience, flexibility, and a willingness to persevere• Are non-judgemental and open minded.• Have a mature outlook on life and a desire to help young people.Live experiences a must!If you like a challenge, live or work in Dudley or the surrounding area, and want to give something back to help make a difference to the lives of vulnerable young people, please do get in touch:
